Mechanicsville, MD (May 23, 2014)  Jamie Lathroum and the Jamie Lathroum racing team will return to action this upcoming Memorial Day weekend as they visit Hagerstown (MD) Speedway on Saturday, May 24 for a $3,000 to-win event before heading to Potomac (MD) Speedway on Sunday, May 25 for the $3,522 to-win, 2nd Annual Ernie Jones Memorial sanctioned by the Three State Flyers Series.

Lathroum returns to the track after deciding to take a short break from racing in light of the recent passing of crew chief Paul 'Huey' Wilcoxon. 'We wanted to take some time to regroup and evaluate what we wanted to do for the rest of 2014,' Lathroum said. ‘Myself and our entire team would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support during this time, the racing community truly is one big family and it's times like these that the racing family really shines. We can't thank everyone enough for their thoughts, prayers and continued support.'

Lathroum will also be in action next weekend as the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek gets underway at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA on Friday, May 30. The mini-tour will then head to Hagerstown (MD) Speedway on Saturday, May 31, Bedford (PA) Speedway on Sunday, June 1 and finishing off at Port Royal (PA) Speedway on Monday, June 2. All four Speedweek events pay $4,000 to the winner. ‘The Appalachian Speedweek is something we look forward to every year,’ Lathroum chimed. ‘We’re excited to get back out there and very happy that we got everything situated so we could run the speedweek deal. It’s a great little series for our region and attracts some of the best drivers around. It’s always fun racing at the different facilities and against different competition.’ READ MORE HERE

Lathroum Breaks Winless Drought With Saturday Potomac Win

Budds Creek, MD- March of 2011 was the last time Mechanicsville Md.’s Jamie “The Jet” Lathroum stood in Potomac speedway’s victory lane. All that changed last Saturday night as Lathroum was on a mission as he scored his first Potomac Late Model feature win of the season in the 35-lap “Rumble on the River” and the $2500 payday that went along with it. In scoring his 11th career late Model win at the track and overall 59th at the speedway, Lathroum earned an extra $300 from race sponsor Three Mules Welding Supply making his take on the night a cool $2800.

Friday Winchester winner JT Spence and Lathroum were the front row for the start of the event. Spence lead the first lap of the race before Lathroum slid into the top-spot on lap-2. Lathroum would go on to lead the distance, but it was no means an easy trip to victory lane. Spence and Jason Covert gave Lathroum all he could handle during the middle portion of the event before Spence dropped from contention on lap-28. Covert was all over Lathroum the final 7-circuits, but could not make the pass, as Lathroum streaked to the enormously popular win. “I didn’t think I was ever going to win here again.” A happy Lathroum stated in Potomac’s victory lane. “JT (Spence) gave me just enough room up there in turn-four to get by to get the lead and we were able to hold them off.”

Adjustments to his winning MBH no.6 after qualifying was the key to Lathroum’s winning run. “Huey and the boys threw some things at this car after the heat race and changed just about everything but the driver.” Said Lathroum. “The car was as good as it’s been down here in a long time and I’m just glad to get a win for all the crew and Three Mules Welding Supplies. Without them I probably wouldn’t be racing.” Trever Feathers was solid taking third, Stevie Long was fourth with point leader Dale Hollidge rounding out the top-five. Spence set fast time in time trials with a one-lap time of 15.100 with heat race wins going to Lathroum and Spence. MORE
